Melissa Vogley Woods lives and works in Columbus, Ohio, and received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, and MFA from Ohio State University. Vogley-woods has attended the Greater Columbus Arts Council International Artist Residency and has received two Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award in 3D (2013) and Craft (2008) and several Franklin County Neighborhood Arts Grants for her community based projects.
Recent International Exhibitions include: Brot & Saltz, Kunstraum Peripherie, Coburg, Germany, openhouse Mastul eV Kunstverein Berlin, Germany; Nachbarschaft Verlassen – Neighborhood Gone, Gallery Raskolnikow Dresden, Germany; and Unter Oberflächen Delikatessenhaus, Leipzig, Germany. Recent national exhibitions include: Belle Isle Public Art Exhibition, Access Arts, Detroit, MI, Craftism University of Wisconsin; Devotion to Thread Woodland Pattern, Milwaukee; Fiberarts International Pittsburgh Center for the Arts.
Recent curatorial projects include Object/Imprint held at the Urban Arts Center, Public Lighting site-based light exhibition, houseWARNING international exhibition held at Hopkins Hall Gallery at
The Ohio State University, Paper moon II Ohio Dominican Universities Whehrle Gallery. She heads up and organizes the exhibition series Rooms to Let, a site-specific exhibition held within different empty houses. Vogley Woods currently teaches at Denison University, Columbus College of Art and Design and Columbus State Community College.
