First Annual Exhibition, featuring the work of 43 members at the Columbus Carnegie Library

Solo exhibitions of members Alice Schille and George Bellows at the Columbus Carnegie Library

Filed Articles of Incorporation (Jan. 14)

First “Thumb Box” Exhibition

1918

Name changed to Columbus Art League (CAL)

1919

First Club Room established at 108 1/2 South High Street, Columbus

1920

League meetings and major exhibitions held at the new Gallery of Fine Arts (Columbus Museum of Art)

Annual Juried Exhibitions held at the Gallery of Fine Arts/Columbus Museum of Art (through 1986)

Emerson Burkhart is CAL President

1948

First Awards given by the League for Distinguished Service to the Arts

1956

Columbus Art School (CCAD) Dean Joseph Canzani is CAL President

1960

50th Anniversary Retrospective Show of over 100 works at the Gallery of Fine Arts

1979

First Publication of the Journal Ohio Art

1987

League occupies exhibition space at the First Avenue Office Center, Harrison West, Columbus

1996

First office and gallery established at 765 Summit Street, Columbus

1996

CAL holds major (Juried) exhibition at Columbus Museum of Art after ten-year hiatus

1998
CAL becomes Ohio Art League (OAL)

1999
Gallery and office moved to present location, 954 North High Street, Columbus’ Short North

2000

Membership reaches the 600 mark

2002

Hired Ellen Grevey as first full time Executive Director
