The Ohio Art League is a non-profit (501 c3) organization. The League benefits annually from the generous operating support of the Ohio Arts Council, the Greater Columbus Arts Council, the Columbus Foundation and The Limited Brands. Additional funds are gratefully received from the contributions of individuals, corporations, grants and fundraising events. These monies allow the OAL to exhibit and educate member artists and to enrich the community through visual arts.
Ohio Art League is an innovative leader in Ohio for supporting visual artists during all stages of their careers. OAL connects member artists to patrons of the arts, the community, and exhibit and studio spaces. Through professional development, mentorship and advocacy, OAL works strategically to help Ohio cultivate and retain top visual art talent while positioning the state as a hub for the visual arts.
OAL's HistoryIn 1909, a group of 40 graduates of the Columbus Art School formed the Columbus Art Students League for the purpose of organizing artists with an objective of “mutual and public benefit.”
Nearly 100 years later, that vision has become the Ohio Art League and has affected the lives of thousands of Ohio artists including such distinguished members as Alice Schille, Roy Lichtenstein, Emerson Burkhart, and George Bellows.
Currently, Ohio Art League serves over 600 artist members.
