Member Curated Exhibitions

The Ohio Art League presents Member Curated Exhibitions on a monthly basis at the League’s gallery, 954 North High Street in Columbus’ Short North Arts District. Artists and curators are invited to submit exhibition proposals to be reviewed by a committee of OAL members. Proposals are reviewed twice each year and booked about 6-12 months in advance. The scheduling is deliberately current in order to allow for the participation by both new and active members.

The curator’s work may include organizing artists, the installation of the show, and writing a curator’s statement. The League sends press releases to over 200 Ohio media outlets, prints invitations and labels, and hosts a reception on the first Saturday of every month, during Columbus’ Short North Gallery Hop.

What Time Is This Place?

Exhibition Dates: July 10 - September 26, 2008 Location: OSU Urban Arts Space, Columbus, OH

This project/exhibiton seeks six to ten artists of all disciplines to discuss place as an "emblem of past, present, and future time" through the creation of site-responsive and time specific work.

The conceptual framework of the project/ exhibition, What Time is this Place? is traced to premises set forth in Kevin Lynch's book of the same title.
